Tuesday, May 31st

Today we started how to use google slides on the chrome books! We learned how to change the font, font size and font colour. We also learned how to share our presentations with our partners! Most importantly, we learned how to make a new presentation, and add and delete slides.

Today we played spot the difference in Spanish, and wrote about the differences! We also chose an insect to do research on in Spanish!

June 3rd is beach day! Just make sure to keep it school appropriate :)

Monday, May 30th

A reminder that the deadline for transportation pre-registration for the 2022-23 school year is June 8. New this year!  You can also add an alternate address.   Please see this link for more information.  When you pre-register, your address is included in the creation of route maps and you can cancel in September with no financial penalty should you change your mind.  Please call the school at 403.777.6030 if you have questions or need help with this.

Friday, June 3 is Beach Day at Dalhousie!  Students are encouraged to wear school appropriate beach attire - shoes and shirts still mandatory!  We hope to have great weather to accompany our beach day. 

A reminder that all Dalhousie library books are due back to school. Our Learning Commons assistant will be doing an inventory of all the books in the learning commons so all books are due back.

Our Lost & Found is overflowing.  Please check it out at front doors of the school.  Any items left at the end of the year will be donated.                                                                                                        

Today we wrote a new Spanish Writing rubric because we can do way better than we could earlier in the year!

Thursday, May 26th

Today we finished our escarabajo (beetle) art! 

Today we did the amazing race outside! We got to have Srta. Maria in the morning and Srta. Bertolesi in the afternoon! 

Next week we will be starting a project called Genius Hour, but Srta. won't tell us anything about it until we've been great all day and have enough time 😱

Tomorrow we have a maze challenge!

Wednesday, May 25th

Today we started an Escarabajo (beetle) art project! We will be doing crayon resist art!

We're on week two of the CBE Amazing Race and today we had to build a Camel Racing Robot because we travelled to Qatar! (but also, you should ask me why travel has two l's when we add an ed at the end!)

On Friday we will have a maze challenge!

Tuesday, May 24th

We will have a drop-in Kindergarten/Grade 1 Orientation on May 25 from 5-7pm. You are welcome to come at any time.  

 

This is open to all next year Dalhousie Kindergarten and Grade 1 families.  We recognize that for our current families, you did not receive the opportunity to do this last year. 


We start Alien Inline on JUNE 14th at 9:05 am.  If you would like your child to use their own equipment, please ensure that it is brought on those days.


We are getting very close to the Pajama party reward in our rewards jar!

Tuesday, May 17th

Today we saw the cutest patitos in the whole world! 🦆Their names are (in order from top of the picture to the bottom) Sol, Isa and Diego! We got to pet and feed them!

Today we did not have library because we can't borrow anymore library books this year. We did return all the books, though. If you have any library books left at home, please bring them back this week.

Today we started running for the amazing race! We are running like chasquis to deliver a secret message to the top of Machu Picchu! Ask me what the secret message is! So far we have 50 points! If we don't take any breaks, we can get up to 125 points for the week! We will do the next section as soon as we publish this blog post! Let's Power It UP!

Monday, May 16th

Tomorrow is the last library day! All books must be returned for tomorrow, as we will not be able to take out any more library books until we are third graders!

Today we started the Amazing Race but we ran out of time, so we will continue tomorrow! The first stop is in Peru - and there is even a class from Peru who joined!

In Math today, we started making our 3D shapes book! We started with "el cubo" (the cube) and learned words like vertice (vertex/vertice), arista (edge), and cara (face)

Thursday, May 12th

Today in ELA, Srta. Bertolesi followed the instructions we wrote on "How To Brush Your Teeth!" We learned that we really need to be specific and give lots of details! Out of 23 instructions, Srta. Bertolesi only actually brushed her teeth properly once! In the picture, you can see Srta. following the instruction to "spit out the toothpaste." Ask me how I plan to improve my instructions.🦷

Book order forms are going home today!!!

Today we got to use chromebooks for social studies to learn about how the Blackfoot Peoples traditionally lived on the prairies.

Srta. Bertolesi erased our sight word board to put up our 3D shape vocabulary instead!

Yesterday and today we made posters to let everyone know that Friday is Backwards Day!

We are taking home info sheets for the parent fundraiser today. Please note that the order deadline is tomorrow, May 11th.

Please know that next week is our last Library week. We will be returning all our books, but will not be able to take out new ones for the remainder of the school year.

Tomorrow is Library Day! Please bring back any books you need to return so you can borrow new ones. 

A reminder that class photos will take place on May 10.  Bring your best smile!

The deadline to purchase a yearbook for $20 is May 10.

 

One of our classes needs plastic bottle caps (screw on) for a science unit.  If you have any that you can donate, please send them to school with your child to go to the office.

 

The next Dalhousie School Council/Parent Society meeting will be held on May 11 at 6pm through this link.  We hope to see you there!

 

Friday, May 13 is Backwards Day at Dalhousie. Come dressed backwards, write with the other hand, walk safely backwards – figure out how to be backwards!

 

A reminder that neither heelies (shoes with wheels in them) nor cleats, should be brought or worn to school. Students with this type of footwear will be asked to change.


Srta. Bertolesi is back! We signed up for a challenge called the Amazing Race today. It starts on Monday, May 16th! 😃

You must have Police Volunteer Clearance through the CBE to volunteer for this event.

Please make sure to sign in when volunteering. All volunteers are required to sign in and wear a badge.

Due to CBE rules, NO siblings are allowed to accompany you in any volunteer capacity at the school.

Due to FOIP, please refrain from taking pictures and from using your cellphone during the activity.

In Spanish we are learning family words related to la comunidad. For example: la fruta, el frutero o la frutera ,la frutería / el pan, el panadero o pander , la pandería

Today we had music.

In Science, we are finishing our unit about 'Boats and buoyancy '. 

On read aloud we are listening to the story of Wild Robot.

This week there will be a form coming home with your child called, the “Acknowledgement of Risk and Consent of Parent or Guardian” please sign this and return to school. This form is required in order for your child to participate in this activity.ALL students are required to have this signed in order to participate in Alien Inline skating. 

Safety and Protective Gear - Alien In-Line provides protective gear for each student (knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards, helmet).  Skates are provided too.

The deadline to purchase a 2021-22 Dalhousie yearbook is May 10, 2022 and can be done through your MyCBE account.
