Wednesday, December 8th

There is school on Friday! In the initial school calendar, this was scheduled as a non-instruction day.  As the federal government declared September 30 a statutory holiday as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the calendar was adjusted. Friday will be a normal early dismissal day.

Today we did an activity where we read some sentences en español. We had to underline the verbos (verbs), adjetivos (adjectives) and preposiciones (prepositions). Then we will draw a picture to go with it! I can read you what these sentences say, and tell you what it means! 🐴🐦🐟⚽

Tuesday, December 7th

Today we coloured the flags of Acadia and Nova Scotia. We learned a little bit about the history of Canada and how the flags are important to that history. We watched a video about the flags of the provinces of Canada. You can watch the video by clicking here! Ask me if I can remember any of the history we learned about the flag of Acadia or Nova Scotia!

We also played a game with los verbos (verbs) en español! We have been learning the verbs: corriendo (running), saltando (jumping), nadando (swimming), jugando (playing), comiendo (eating), volando (flying), and caminando (walking)!

Thursday, December 2nd

Today we made a map of Canada. There are ten provinces and 3 territories in Canada. We live in the province of Alberta. The community of Meteghan (which we will be studying) is in the province of Nova Scotia.

Tomorrow we will have a Snowflake Challenge! It is also Free Seating Friday!

For this holiday season, Dalhousie will be starting a fundraiser to support the Salvation Army’s Toy Angel campaign.  Toy Angels is Calgary’s largest Christmas toy drive in support of The Salvation Army’s Christmas Toy Program, which helps families in need during the holiday season so that they too can have a Merry Christmas. Families are invited to bring in a new, unwrapped toy that the student would like themselves. They have requested no electronics.  This is an opportunity for students to practice the concept of gratitude and giving back. Thank you for your support!

Today we learned to draw lighthouses because we are going to be learning about a community in Nova Scotia called Meteghan! We brainstormed what kinds of things we would need to learn about a community before we travelled there!
